About Maker Price Lab

Free pricing tools for makers, built to be checkable rather than merely confident.

Last updated

Maker Price Lab exists because most maker businesses are underpriced, and the reason is rarely laziness. It is that the real cost of making something is genuinely hard to see. The blank costs $3.50; the design time, setup, machine wear, failed pieces, packaging and payment fees do not announce themselves.

Every tool here starts from the same premise: work out what the job actually costs, then solve for the price that leaves the margin you chose. No rules of thumb, no multipliers borrowed from someone else’s cost structure.

Why the tools are free

The calculators are free to use, with no account required, and we do not intend to change that. Everything a maker needs to price a product properly is available without signing up for anything.

The site is supported by advertising and affiliate links to tools and suppliers. Affiliate placements are disclosed wherever they appear, and no calculator result is ever influenced by a commercial relationship.

How we build the calculators

Every formula is published on the page that uses it, versioned, and covered by automated tests that run before any change ships. When we change a formula, the version number changes with it.

The engine refuses to guess. If your target margin and selling fees add up to more than the whole price, there is no valid answer, and the calculator says so rather than returning a confident-looking number you might act on.

Calculations run entirely in your browser. Your costs are your business, and they do not need to travel to a server for arithmetic that a phone can do instantly.

What this is not

These tools produce estimates from the figures you enter. They are not financial, tax, legal or accounting advice, and they cannot see your market, your competition or your customers. Check any result against your own records before quoting a customer.
